Emergency Medical Services Paramedic (EMSP - 51.0904)
Placement in EMSP 101,
102, and 103 requires completion of all required
coursework and permission of the instructor.
Students must complete the following courses prior
to admission: BIOL 114‑115, ENGL 101, MATH 101,
UNIV or ASCU, and PSYC 101.

101. Basic Emergency Medical Care
Fundamentals. 3‑3‑0. Prerequisites: Completion of
all required coursework and permission of
instructor. Introduction to the role and scope of
practice of the EMT‑Basic. Course content follows
the national standard curriculum as outlined by
the Department of Transportation. Emphasis is on
basic life support, assessment, care, techniques
and skills in treating the traumatized and acutely
ill patient. The use of medical anti-shock
trousers, splints, CPR, patient mobilization,
extrication and radio communication is presented.
